The ATI-RTC-CAR successfully conducted the Training on Organic Agriculture (OA) Technology Updates on April 7-11, 2025 for Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) and Farmers of the region to further strengthen local capacity in organic agriculture by introducing updated practices, tools and technologies aligned with the Philippine National Standards.
Participants engaged in discussions on the current and emerging trends in organic agriculture, implementation of the Philippine National Standards, and innovations that support sustainable farming. The sessions emphasized practical application to help participants integrate the concepts in their farms and communities..
One of the highlights of the training was the conduct of a mock peer review inspectionβan activity that simulated actual organic certification inspections. This experience provided a deeper understanding on the compliance requirements and inspection procedures grounded in the Philippine National Standards (PNS). Participants expressed that this activity helped them better understand key concepts, particularly those related to inspection procedures.
Mr. Charlie C. Sagudan, Training Center Director, along with Mr. Edwin C. Dicksen, OA Focal Person of ATI-RTC-CAR, and Ms. Precil M. Sales, OA Focal Person of DA-RFO-CAR served as resource persons for the training, sharing their technical expertise and practical insights to enhance the participantsβ learning experience.
In his closing message, Center Director Sagudan encouraged the farmer-members of organizations who have yet to be certified to start preparing for certification. He also commended the participants for their active engagement and commitment to advancing organic agriculture in their communities.//Glory T.
