Kalinga Province-led Agriculture and Fisheries Extension System (KPAFES) Soft Launching and Turn-over of PAFES Kalinga Fund Check to the PLGU Kalinga.

Tue, 05/09/2023 - 10:53

All set for implementation is now the theme of the KPAFES as the CAR PAFES RPMO handovers the 2.1 million check to the PLGU Kalinga on May 5, 2023, at Tabuk City Kalinga. This is for the implementation of agriculture and fisheries extension interventions in Kalinga. These interventions were conceptualized through the Collaborative Provincial Agriculture and Fishery Extension Program (CPAFEP) which the PLGU and MLGUs of Kalinga crafted in partnership with the RPMO, the Kalinga State University, farmer groups, and other stakeholders under the PAFES. The CPAFEP contains the development interventions and projects which the provinces will undertake for the development of the agriculture sector in the province along the value chain. Kalinga listed 16 priority commodities (9 for crops, 5 for livestock and poultry, and 1 for fishery) in its CPAFEP.

PAFES, as one of the key strategies under the consolidation pillar, will strengthen the collaboration between DA, local government units, academe, and the private sector. PAFES will be institutionalized to bring extension services to the grassroots level amid the challenges of devolution. With PAFES, the province serves as an extension hub that synchronizes agricultural plans and programs as well as orchestrates the activities of the various stakeholders. DA will co-plan, co-invest, co-implement, and co-monitor priority projects in the provinces, particularly as they embark on commodity specializations to maximize comparative advantage.

Kalinga Governor James S. Edduba led the delegation from the PLGU along with Provincial Agriculturist and Kalinga PAFES Provincial Management Group (PMG) Chair Engr. Domingo A. Bakilan, Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator and Kalinga PAFES Co-Chair Flordeliza G. Moldero, Provincial Veterinarian and Kalinga PAFES Co-Chair Dr. Leonardo D. Damian. Atty Chris Donaal representing Vice Governor Jocel C. Baac and SP Member Antonio A. Bakilan of the Sanguniang Panlalawigan of Kalinga were also present during the event. Engr. Danilo P.
