Climate change is a universal concern that needs everybody's immediate attention. Our natural resources are slowly being destroyed which is an effect of our careless and inconsiderate behavior resulting from the way of life that we are in right now. It's a global problem that needs the cooperation of everybody. As individuals, we can always find ways how we can do our part. It doesn't matter whether it's a small or big act, what's important is that we know the problem and we are willing to do our part to help mitigate the effects of climate change. To this effect, the Regional Training Center of the Agricultural Training Institute in the Cordillera Administrative Region in coordination with the Bureau of Plant and Industry, and the DA-Regional Field Office conducted a tree planting activity held on July 1, 2024 at the Baguio Animal Breeding and Research Center (BABRC) located at Sto. Tomas Baguio City.

Everyone take part in the tree planting activity

With the group was the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Major in Extension On-the-Job Trainees of Benguet State University who joined hands to successfully execute the activity. Previously planted trees such as guapple, coffee, avocado, and orange trees were checked, cleaned, weeded, and applied fertilizers. An additional 50 guapples and 50 jackfruits provided by the Bureau of Plant and Industry were also planted. The area is provided by the DA-Regional Field-Office-CAR (DA-RFO-CAR), through its Baguio Animal Breeding and Research Center (BABRC) to the ATI-RTC-CAR where it can plant and maintain fruit and other agricultural trees. The area is located at the Baguio Stock Farm in Barangay Dontogan, Baguio City.

The activity is an act of support and recognition of the center for the importance of planting and saving trees. It is also a way of expressing concerns for the environment to lessen the unfavorable effects of climate change. Tree Planting Activity is conducted yearly by the center in support of the government's reforestation initiative and climate change mitigation strategy through the National Greening Program (NGP). This is in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) - Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) and the Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office (DA RFO).
