“I learned a lot from this training. Honestly, I have no interest in mushroom production because mushrooms have high uric acid, but through this training, I learned that there is a recommended time to harvest mushrooms to avoid high uric acid content.  This training makes me appreciate that mushroom production is very helpful to us. In addition, mushroom production is helpful to our organization and also to our family because it can be an additional income for the family” expressed Mr. Julito Malong, Farmer of Loakan, Apugan, Baguio City during the training on Oyster Mushroom Production with the Provision of Starter Kits held on June 13, 2023 at the Sanagi Agri-Tourism Farm, Bigis, Poblacion, Tuba, Benguet.

The training aimed that after the activity, the participants should be able to engage in oyster mushroom production in addition to their urban garden or home garden.

A discussion on Adult Learning was done before engaging the farmer participants in the world of Mushroom Production.

The training activity is one of the batches of one-day activities focusing on urban agriculture. This is also in support of the National Urban and Peri-Urban Agriculture Program wherein ATI conducts a series of webinars and face-to-face on Urban Agriculture to be able to produce food in limited spaces, provide alternative sources of livelihood, and aid in solid waste management.

The mushroom production aspect served as the 14th batch while the mushroom processing served as the 15th batch supportive of the 30 batches of the Capability Building in Support to Community Garden Establishment on Urban Agriculture.

A total of 25 farmer participants attended the said training.
