The Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center-Cordillera Administrative Region (ATI-RTC-CAR) has launched the Swine Artificial Insemination sa Barangay (SWAIB) Housing and Facility at the Animal Breeding Center, Posnaan, Aguinaldo, Ifugao, in partnership with the Municipal Local Government Unit (MLGU) through the Municipal Agriculture Office on March 25, 2025.
This facility is the second SWAIB project to be inaugurated in the Cordillera Administrative Region and is part of the Department of Agriculture's Integrated National Swine Production Initiatives for Recovery and Expansion (INSPIRE) Program, SWAIB complements INSPIRE's Component 2, focusing on establishing swine breeder multiplier farms to rebuild and recover the breeder base to support the gradual restocking and repopulation of the swine industry.
Once fully operational, the facility will produce quality semen for artificial insemination, benefiting hog farms within the locality and neighboring municipalities.
During the event, ATI-RTC-CAR Training Center Director Charlie C. Sagudan emphasized the importance of biosecurity, citing that threats to animal health remain a challenge. He also highlighted the significance of partnership and collaboration, saying "this project is an evidence to the power of collaboration".
Hon. Gaspar B. Chilagan Jr., municipal mayor of Aguinaldo, Ifugao expressed full support and commitment to the SWAIB project, ensuring the local government's dedication to its success and sustainability.
