The Internship Program for the Young Corn Farmers, also called the Corn Internship Program, officially kicked off with the signing of Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) among the interns, farm partners, and DA-ATI-CAR.
Four young corn farmers from Alfonso Lista and Aguinaldo, Ifugao, entered into a Memorandum of Agreement with the DA-ATI-CAR this week, witnessed by their respective MLGU representatives. The signing of the MOA solidifies partnerships that will enhance opportunities and foster a deeper understanding of corn production among the interns.
“This initiative is crucial for developing future leaders in agriculture,” said Mr. Charlie Sagudan, ATI-CAR’s Training Center Director.
Mr. Robert Changwayan, Municipal Agriculturist of Aguinaldo challenged the interns, saying, “Strive for your success in the program and help our locality gain a reputation for producing accomplished interns.”
Meanwhile, Ms. Vicky May Guinayen, the ATI-CAR Corn Program Focal Person, emphasized that the interns' success in this program will open doors for other young farmers to access similar opportunities. She also discussed the: training program’s curriculum; the roles and responsibilities of the youth intern, farmer-partner, the MLGU and the DA-ATI-CAR; and the significance of collaboration in advancing agricultural development.
The internship program that will run for two years aims to train the youth on corn production technologies and develop their skills to become agripreneurs through hands-on experience in corn cultivation and management, emphasizing sustainable practices.
It is expected that the interns will work with their assigned farm partners for the first seven months to get practical experience. After which, they are to apply the knowledge and skills they have learned to establish their own business/enterprise.
