ATI-Cordillera Equips Kabayan Organic Practitioners as Trainers on PGS

To strengthen the Organic Agriculture Organizations in the Cordillera, the ATI-RTC-CAR kicked off on June 13, 2024 the Training of Trainers (TOT) on Participatory Guarantee System (PGS) for PGS Group in Kabayan, Benguet.

Ms. Julie P. Espara, President of Kabayan Organic Practitioners (KABOP) graced the opening of the program with her inspiring keynotes addressing the importance of technical training and assistance to the organization vying for organic certification and accreditation as an Organic Certifying Body (OCB) through the Participatory Guarantee System (PGS). β€œWith the dedication of ATI-CAR, as for us participants, we will maximize our time in attending this training you are imparting with us”, she added.

Meanwhile, Ms. Arlene M. Batanes from the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist (OMAg) of Kabayan expressed support from their office the conduct of the activity sponsored by ATI-CAR in capacitating organic practitioners affirming that it is indeed a great opportunity for the farmers to acquire new/updated learnings on Organic Agriculture practices, technologies and regulations.

The ten-day training is loaded with highly structured modules, workshops, actual demonstrations and field activities to elevate the skills and knowledge of the organization in preparation for their quest towards certification and accreditation as an OCB. The TOT on PGS in Kabayan, Benguet being conducted by the ATI-CAR with the expertise of Mr. Edwin C. Dicksen, Agriculturist II/Organic Agriculture Focal Person, as the main speaker is expected to gain a fruitful and successful endeavor in the locality.
