The Center, through the Urban and Peri-urban Focal Person under the Partnership and Accreditation Section (PAS) attended the 2nd National Learning Sites for Agriculture (LSA) Federation Meeting, bringing together LSA leaders from across the country last February 17-19, 2025 held at RDEC Function Hall, ATI Compound, Diliman, Quezon City.
The meeting aimed to strengthen collaboration, formalize the national federationβs structure, and enhance leadership coordination among accredited LSAs in the country. Discussions covered the presentation of regional achievement, establishment of the national federation, election of officers, and review of LSA guidelines for the improvement of the program implementation.Β The meeting also focused on strategic planning and future directions, ensuring that LSAs remain a key drivers of sustainable agriculture and rural development.
One of the main agendas of the meeting was the organization of the National LSA Federation.Β EachΒ Regional LSA President introduced themselves, sharing their background, achievements, and best practices in their respective regions. They highlighted their innovative approaches, successful programs, and contributions to strengthen their co-LSAs in their respective region.Β Thereafter, the National LSA Federation structure was formally presented, including leadership roles and responsibilities. Guidelines for electing the National LSA Federation President and the operational framework were introduced to ensure proper governance. Finally, a fair and transparent nomination and election process was conducted. Candidates were introduced, and voting was facilitated through a viva voce procedure. The result of the new National LSA Federation Officers were as follows: President: Mr. Ivan D. Baguilat (CAR); Vice President: Mr. Henry S. Binahom (Region 10); Secretary: Atty. CarolΒ Dumlao-Amis (Region 3); Treasurer: Mr. Elmer Paulo M. Relente (Region 4A); Auditor: Ms. Imelda M. Guillermo (Region 2); PRO: Mr. Robert Olaer (Region 7) and Mr. Sain Winston Visitacion (Region IVB); Event Coordinator: Ms. Michelle Sueno (Region 12) and Engr. Ariel Mosquera (Region 11).
Other agendas discussed were the initial results of the LSA study, focus group discussion on the revision of the LSA guidelines, and planning for the next steps and ways forward.
