BAYBAY CITY, Leyte – It’s high time for the ATI staff to recalibrate and physically prepare for the months ahead with a series of sports activities in ATIng Palaro. ATI-RTC 8 staff joined in the games for two weeks: Boggle, Chess, Sungka, Scrabble, Table Tennis, Badminton, and Volleyball. There were four teams, a mix of staff from all sections, and everyone was eager to participate during the recreational or ‘hataw’ hours.
Pink Crackers dominated in Boggle, Scrabble, Table Tennis, and Volleyball, while Green Team took over Chess, Sungka, and Badminton; and both Yellow Team and Blue Team excitedly gave it their best shots during the various events. Professor Flor Gatchalian from the Institute of Human Kinetics of the Visayas State University served as the overall coordinator of the team games.
Ms. Vanissa Asis, the General Athletic Manager of the Overall Champion – Pink Crackers, shares: “The best part of the recently concluded ATIng Palaro is not about the trophy; it's about the bonds we formed, the challenges we overcame, and especially the fun we had. Our team, "Pink Crackers Team," emerged as the Overall Champion. It's a testament to our collective skill, determination, and sportsmanship. I feel incredibly proud to be part of this team. I hope there are more sports fests like this in the workplace ahead.
Mr. Bethel John Sinon, team lead of the Learning and Development Committee, shares how the activity brings out the best, funniest, and carefree moments of the staff having the time to celebrate and destress, witness smiles despite failed attempts to aim for a score, and the eagerness to join in the games and contribute to the group. He adds, “Player or non-player, may we apply our learnings, not only in the games but also as we move forward as a team here at ATI-RTC 8. The importance of unity, the importance of fun, the importance of rest, and the importance of people. As stated in the ATI core values, we give the best. May we not just give the best to our clients, but may we also give the best to our people. The people who work hard to achieve ATI’s prize and that is success.”
Winners were announced on February 7, 2024 at the Center as part of the closing celebrations for the Institute’s month-long anniversary celebration.
