Mr. Ariel R. Turla, 24, from Brgy. San Jose, Catubig, and Mr. Virgilio S. Surio, Jr., 30, from Brgy. Genagasan, Silvino Lobos, have been accepted as interns for the Filipino Young Farmers Internship Program in Taiwan (FYFIPT) Batch 4.

The two young farmers successfully completed their Mandarin Language, Culture, and Tradition class virtually on May 8, 2024. They are currently engaged in self-paced learning on various agricultural technologies, including dairy and beef cattle production, rice production and farm mechanization, swine production and management, aquaculture, and vegetable production.

The FYFIPT is a partnership between the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines (TECO) through a Memorandum of Understanding. The program aims to develop deserving young Filipino farmers into empowered farmer leaders and agricultural entrepreneurs.

Mr. Turla and Mr. Surio are expected to arrive at the ATI-Central Office on June 9, 2024, for program orientation/briefing and a medical exam. They will also receive training on smart farming, agri-processing, and mental health coping mechanisms.

The interns will depart from the Philippines on July 15, 2024, and are expected to return after an 11-month training period in Taiwan.
