In its commitment to enhancing the quality and fairness of performance assessments in training programs, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) successfully completed the 13 assessment designs and its corresponding rubrics. These were crafted by Technical Working Groups (TWGs) from various Training Centers and Divisions during the Foundations in Rubric Development: Basic Training for Effective Performance Assessment.
ATI Director III, Ms. Antonieta J. Arceo, emphasized the importance of this training, citing the Department of Agriculture Secretary’s belief that effective training is foundational to success. “This training aims to address the three dimensions of assessment—knowledge, skills, and attitude—while promoting creative, fair and learner-centered approaches,” she remarked.
Experts from the Department of Education’s Bureau of Learning Delivery guided participants in applying the principles and techniques in designing performance-based assessment and drafting rubrics. The TWGs then contextualized these learnings to craft rubrics for ATI’s curriculum tracks, including Commodity-based Technologies, Social Technology, Knowledge Management, Extension Governance, and Learning and Development for Admin and Finance.
These assessment designs and rubrics were designed to align with the curriculum tracks’ competencies, objectives, and expected learning outcomes.
This milestone reflects ATI’s dedication to designing effective and unbiased performance assessments, with clear criteria and descriptors for each performance level, while equipping learners with the right attitude, skills and knowledge needed to succeed in their respective fields.
The training was conducted on December 2 to 6, 2024 at Madison 101 Hotel in Quezon City.
