LA TRINIDAD, BENGUET - Japan Agricultural Exchange Council (JAEC) together with the Department of Agriculture through the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) recently conducted the second batch of the National Training of Trainers of the Safe Vegetable Production Technology Dissemination and Vegetable System Improvements (SAVERS).
Some 25 agricultural extension workers and farmer leaders from regions, I, II, III, IVA, and V participated in the activity. They would later on serve as resource persons on SAVERS in their respective places.
Center Director Charlie Sagudan of ATI Regional Training Center – Cordillera Administrative Region (ATI RTC CAR) welcomed the participants. In his message, he emphasized that since this project was launched several years ago in Buguias, the Japanese technology was already adopted by many farmers in Benguet.
The training had several lecture series, hands-on installation of the Mokusaku facility, and farm tours where SAVERS technology is being practiced.
More significantly, the training sparked on closer bilateral agricultural collaboration between Japan and the Philippines, paving up possibilities for potential future engagement that could boost the upward trajectory of farmer incomes in both countries.
The training was conducted last October 9 to18, 2023, at ATI RTC CAR, BSU Compound, La Trinidad, Benguet.
