PASAY City, Philippines—The Department of Agriculture will hold the 50th Gawad Saka: Parangal sa mga Natatanging Magsasaka at Mangingisda“ Awarding for the National finalists.
As the department’s highest annual recognition, it honors the unwavering dedication of Filipino farmers, fisherfolk, institutions, scientists, and researchers who continue to drive the nation’s agricultural progress.
Likewise, a total of 101 national finalists will be recognized. This provides the backbone of the sector and the nation– our farmers and fisherfolk, the rightful recognition they truly deserve.
The categories for the awards are as follows:
- Crops (Rice, Corn, Cassava, Coconut, Sugarcane, High-Value crops, Urban and peri-urban agriculture)
- Livestock (Small animal, large animal, dairy cattle, dairy goat raiser, dairy carabao)
- Fisheries (Aquaculture, capture fisheries)
- Institutions I (Farm and fisherfolk family, Rural Improvement Club, Farmer or Fisherfolk organization, Agricultural and Fishery council, KADIWA Program, and KADIWA ng Pangulo Program Implementer)
- Institutions II (Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council, and Local Government Unit)
- Agricultural Scientist and Researcher
- Agricultural Extension Manager and Worker
- Youth (Young Farmer or Fisherfolk and Young Farmer or Fisherfolk organization)
- Cross-cutting (Agricultural Entrepreneur and Rural Financial Institution)
Moreover, guided by the vision of a Masaganang Bagong Pilipinas, the Gawad Saka national finalists embody innovation, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to food security and rural development. Their stories and achievements are a powerful inspiration toward building a brighter, more bountiful future for the country.
The activity will be held on May 26, 2025, at the Philippine Trade Training Center, Pasay City.
