The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) and the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO) have formalized a collaboration through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed by ATI Director Remelyn Recoter and PVAO Undersecretary Reynaldo Mapagu.
Under the agreement, ATI will offer specialized training programs designed to equip veterans their spouses, and qualified dependents with essential agricultural skills, improve their employability, and create pathways for agribusiness ventures. Free training, assessment, and certification in agriculture and fisheries will be available through ATI’s network of Regional Training Centers nationwide.
Additionally, ATI will promote its e-learning programs, ensuring that veterans have access to digital resources that can further enhance their expertise.
PVAO, in turn, will identify and organize eligible veterans interested in agricultural training and facilitate the promotion of these opportunities through its Field Service Offices.
A recent PVAO survey findings indicate that a growing number of veterans are seeking livelihood support, with 54 out of 99 respondents expressing interest in agriculture-related programs. This partnership directly responds to that need, aligning with PVAO’s Kagitingan Roadmap 2028, which focuses on empowering veterans through strengthened institutional linkages and sustainable economic opportunities.
By equipping them with the knowledge and resources to engage in agriculture, this initiative seeks to foster long-term stability and self-sufficiency, ensuring that those who have served the nation can continue to thrive in their post-military lives.
The MOA signing took place on February 19, 2025, at the PVAO Compound, Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.
