The Department of Agriculture (DA), through the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), continued their linkage with the Philippines Partnership for Sustainable Agriculture (PPSA) through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed on May 7, 2025.

The two organizations have been working together for years and the signing marks the start of a stronger, more formal collaboration to help Filipino farmers and fishers.

“In every step, the DA has been there, not just as a stakeholder, but as a true partner and advocate for change. And, today’s MOA signing is a reaffirmation of the vision and a promise to continue working even harder for the sector we all serve,” said Angel Bautista, Country Director of PPSA.

PPSA brings together farmers, agribusinesses, NGOs, and government agencies to create solutions that improve market access, promote climate-smart practices, and make agriculture more resilient. It has also grown into a network of over 200 organizations supporting more than 120,000 smallholder farmers across the country.

In her message, ATI Director Remelyn R. Recoter said, “At ATI, we’ve always believed that real change begins by listening—to farmers, to our partners, to what’s really happening on the ground. That’s why this partnership matters. It brings people together to find solutions that make sense for our communities.”

Over the years, the DA and PPSA have worked hand-in-hand to support family farming, organize agri-business forums, and empower women and young people in agriculture.

As the partnership moves forward, both DA and PPSA remain aligned in their shared mission to uplift the lives of smallholder farmers, to ensure food security for future generations, and to promote sustainable, resilient, and inclusive agricultural growth in the Philippines.
