DILIMAN, Quezon City - The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), through its Career Development and Management Division and the Partnerships and Accreditation Division, conducted a technical guidance session (TGS) on the development of a commodity-based ladderized training program with the key commodity focal persons of the Institute.

During the activity, Director Remelyn Recoter expressed her optimism in the continuous initiatives and efforts of the ATI in providing services and fruitful collaborations with its partners, from the government and private sectors alike.

"We see the importance of having competency-based and ladderized training courses for our clientele," she expressed.

She added, "We have to continuously come up with very important training programs for our employees at the Central Office, Regional Training Centers (RTC), and for our external clients, such as our agricultural extension workers (AEWs), farmer leaders, and other intermediaries."

Aligning to the ATI’s role as the capacity-builder, knowledge bank, and catalyst of the Philippine Agriculture and Fisheries Extension system, the activity is anchored towards hastening the professionalization of the extension workforce, and improving the quality of extension training systems throughout its regional network.

This TGS is a follow-up activity to the Workshop on the Finalization of the Competency-based Curriculum for the AEWs held last year. The workshop was then participated by subject matter experts from the ATI network, which resulted in the standardization of priority competency-based training programs.

The activity was held last April 15 to 19 at the ATI Serrano Hall in this city.
