DILIMAN, Quezon City - The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) marks the continuity of its international exchange efforts through this year’s Young Filipino Farm Leaders Training Program in Japan (YFFLTPJ). This program, spearheaded by the Department of Agriculture (DA), aims to equip young Filipino farmers with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in modern agricultural practices.

Secretary Francisco “Kiko” Tiu Laurel Jr. led the send-off of 23 young farmers leaving for Japan under the program.

YFFLTPJ Batch 2024 altogether recite their oath and promise to improve the agriculture sector in the country

“All the best to our YFFLTPJ Batch 2024 trainees! I aspire that your next chapter as a young farmer will be filled with reasons for you to be the best Ambassadors of Goodwill guided by the principles and values instilled upon you, and embody the character of a true Filipino young farmer,” he said.

Also, ATI Director Remelyn Recoter conveyed her support and confidence to the young farmers. “I am confident that this internship will help each of you immensely as young farmer leaders,” she remarked.

Recoter added, “Together with the previous batches, you are reshaping Philippine agriculture into a competitive and robust sector, aligned with President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. and DA Secretary Francisco P. Tiu Laurel’s vision towards Masaganang Bagong Pilipinas.”

Through the program, the young farmers will be exposed to new techniques and technologies that will aid in improving their respective communities in the Philippines when they return. The training program is a part of the Department's ongoing efforts to help young farmers develop their talents and present their aptitudes, morals, and competencies to a global audience.

The Institute's persistent endeavor to empower young Filipino farmers is evident in its effort to engage them in sustainable farming methods and develop them into agricultural entrepreneurs and farm leaders.

The event was held last April 8 at the ATI Compound's RDEC Function Hall in Diliman in this city.
