DILIMAN, Quezon City—Ten staff of the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) successfully passed the assessment for National Certificate II (NC II) on Housekeeping after completing a training course with a local service provider accredited by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

These staff are in charge of the maintenance and day-to-day operations of the Rural Development and Education Center (RDEC) which serves as the Institute’s main facility for training and other related activities.

The national certification assessment was conducted by assessors Bernardina Cudal and Benjamin Pacis last May 16, 23, and 30, 2023 at Access Computer College in Pasig City.

Prior to this, the staff participated in a three-day Training on Housekeeping Services with the Mandaluyong Manpower Technical-Vocational Training Center (MMTVTC). They were joined by two personnel from the ATI’s Admin and Finance Unit.

The training covered the basic, core, and common competencies under TESDA’s Housekeeping NC II course. This is to enhance the staff’s knowledge, skills, and attitude on housekeeping services in accordance with the industry standards.

Likewise, this is to equip them to deliver excellent services for the clients and guests of the ATI’s training and lodging facilities.

In her message during the opening program, Assistant Director Antonieta Arceo hoped that the participants will learn new skills and values from the training. She hoped that they will be able to apply their learning as they deliver quality services in the workplace and find this useful even in their respective households.

Meanwhile, RDEC staff Janet Alboroto thanked the ATI Management and the MMTVTC for giving her the privilege and opportunity to attend the training that enabled her to learn the standard way of doing housekeeping.

The training also included practical tests and a discussion on mental health awareness. Resource person Majella Tampinco shared the meaning and importance of mental health, factors affecting mental health, self-care tips, and how to help people with mental health problems.

The activity was held last March 11, 18, and 25, 2023 at RDEC in this city. (With reports from Ma. Ruben Ana Rabino and Rolaine Ruzielle Odulio)
