DILIMAN, Quezon City—Representatives from different rural-based organizations (RBOs) convened for a national consultative workshop led by the Partnerships and Accreditation Division of the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI).
The workshop included ideation and planning sessions where the participants came up with new interventions needed and three-year plans to enhance the growth of the different RBOs. The RBOs include the 4-H Club, Rural Improvement Club, and Magsasaka Siyentista.
A team from the Philippine Partnership for Sustainable Agriculture served as facilitators during the group workshops. RBO coordinators from the Department of Agriculture (DA) Regional Field Offices and ATI-Regional Training Centers also took part in these sessions.
ATI Director Remelyn Recoter welcomed the participants and recognized the important role of the RBOs in modernizing the agri-fishery sector.
“You have the power to influence fellow farmers and fishers to unleash their potential and help improve the productivity of sector,” she said.
Meanwhile, Assistant Director Antonieta Arceo presented the Institute's directions towards Competency-based Training Curriculum and other programs and services.
Some DA bureaus and attached agencies discussed their programs related to marketing, credit, and accreditation of civil society organizations. Selected regions also shared their best practices in strengthening their respective RBOs.
The three-day activity kicked off on September 3 at the Rural Development and Education Center.
