DILIMAN, Quezon City – The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) recently conducted a consultation-workshop aimed at enhancing its curriculum on agricultural entrepreneurship. This activity brought together key stakeholders from diverse sectors, including industry practitioners, government agencies, and academic institutions, to collaborate on shaping a more responsive and effective program.
Representatives from esteemed institutions from the public and private sector actively participated in the workshop. They were from the East-West Seed Company, Sorosoro Ibaba Development Cooperative, Learning Site Cooperators Association from Central Luzon, Marelson Farm and Education Center, Ecolistic Agricultural Learning Center, the Department of Trade and Industry - Philippine Trade Training Center, Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation, Department of Agriculture - Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Service, Department of Agriculture - Farm and Fisheries Clustering and Consolidation, and the University of the Philippines - Institute of Small-Scale Industries.
The workshop served as a platform to gather expert insights and perspectives on emerging trends, challenges, and opportunities in the agri-entrepreneurship landscape. By integrating these valuable contributions into the curriculum, the Institute sought to provide aspiring and existing farmers with the essential skills and knowledge to successfully establish and manage agricultural enterprises.
Through dynamic presentations, open forums, group discussions, and brainstorming sessions, the participants actively contributed to the refinement process. Stakeholders shared their expertise, practical experiences, and innovative ideas, ensuring the alignment of the curriculum with the evolving needs of the agricultural sector.
The shared vision is to empower Filipino farmers with a business-oriented mindset, enhancing the competitiveness of Philippine agriculture and fostering sustainable development.
By enriching the agri-entrepreneurship curriculum, the strengthened program will be designed to equip farmers not only as producers but also as entrepreneurs, ensuring they thrive in the modern agricultural economy.
