BAYBAY CITY, Leyte - Hulbert Dunn, known to be the Father of Wellness in the United States says, “Wellness is a healthy balance of the mind, body, and spirit that results in an overall feeling of well-being.” Indeed, as ATI-RTC 8 continues to strike balance in the workplace by taking a prime on staff’s overall well-being, it is important that they too know how to take good care of their health by combating diseases through cheaper alternatives.

Closing this year’s Women’s Month, the Gender and Development Committee fixed its focus on family, the Juanas and Juans of ATI-RTC 8. On March 31, 2023, an activity on Traditional and Alternative Healthcare for ATIng #JuanAtJuana was conducted at ATI-RTC 8.

Ms. Josephine Hipe of the Philippine Institute of Traditional and Alternative Health Care (PITAHC) served as Resource Person focusing on Alternative Medicine. There, she introduced various alternative medicines using plants and herbs as a way to treat common diseases as substitute to conventional medicine. During the workshop, Ms. Hipe demonstrated how to prepare ointments, soaps, and syrups that can easily be done at home using some of the common household materials.

Free ear acupuncture sessions was also set for staff. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, a blocked or disrupted flow of qi can have a negative effect on your physical and mental health. Acupuncture aims to restore the flow of qi by resolving any blockages or disruption. Since the human hear has a lot of acupuncture points, ear acupuncture is one way to relieve various health issues.
