BAYBAY CITY, Leyte - The Visayas State University, the home campus of ATI-RTC 8, conducted its Intramural Games on September 19-22, 2023 coined as “SalingKusog 2023”.

ATI, being a longtime partner of the university, has been consistent with its participation and support to VSU’s activities. The Center participated in the said event under the Mighty Pegasus -  a team consisting of participating centers and units under the Office of the Vice President for Research, Extension, and Innovation (OVPREI), namely: PhilRootcrops, ARIC, Eco-FARMI, NARC, NCRC, RCCRDC, RERC, GISSU, CASL, PDDL, ViSERDAC, Research Office, Extension Office, Innovation Office, and ViCARP, and partner offices and satellites centers such as VSU-Villaba, PCC, and VFES. The team faced three other rivals consisting of faculty and staff under offices of the different Vice Presidents of the university.

After all the lobs, drops, and smashes, DMO I, Vanissa Asis and team, won big in the lawn tennis event for the Women’s Doubles Category as they snatched the 1st place. Consequently, Jerome Amarado, ATI-8 Technical Staff, and his team landed 3rd place for the Lawn Tennis Men’s Category.  Maria Helen Seco and their women's team also grabbed 1st place for the table tennis women's event.

Ms. Concepcion Miro, TS III, and Ms. Maria Rica Jea Lobina, PO I, and their team smashed 2nd Place for the Badminton Women’s Doubles Category. On a different event, Lobina joined Asis as they spiked their way up to 2nd place of the heated Volleyball Women’s Category.

Carin Martirez, Marissa Dueñas, Jemboy Gonzaga, and Analisa Amorillo also participated the walkathon for the faculty and staff.

Not only were they active on land but ATI-RTC 8 staff also showed their guts in facing the tides. Vibien Borong, Jean Intales, Lovely Terol, Joshua Sinoc, and Arjie Gloria represented the Center and rowed their way to 2nd place in the Kayak Event.

Strategy and wits made Shiela Sarco and team win 3rd place for the Chess Women’s Category.

The Dance Palabas also showed the talents of the staff as they grooved to the rhythm of the latest viral hits. Marissa, Jerome, and Shiela represented ATI and danced their hearts out during the Tiktok Dance Contest. With every stomp of their feet, twists of their hips, and waves of their hands, the team won 1st place of the said dance event.

Summing up the scores and medals received during the different sporting and literary-musical events, the Mighty Pegasus was hailed the overall champion for the faculty and staff. The team’s journey to being champions was made easier through the strong cooperation and dedication of the players from participating centers and units. “I couldn't be prouder of this incredible team. Together, we achieved the championship, and it's a testament to what can happen when individuals come together as one.” Asis testifies.
