BAYBAY CITY, Leyte - ATI-RTC 8 continues its celebration of the Women’s Month by empowering ATI women with knowledge and awareness of their rights in the workplace and at home.

On March 31, 2022, through its Gender and Development program, ATI-RTC 8 conducted #GADtoKnow: Forum on Gender Sensitivity and Awareness for its staff. Atty. Jonalyndie Chua, Atty III from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) VIII, served as resource person on Gender Sensitivity. She also talked about the issue of Gender Biases which is the unconscious attribution of an individual to another person or group of people which greatly affects how people treat others having different genders.

Later, Atty. Chua discussed about RA 7877 or the Anti-Sexual Harassment Act of 1995 and explained how sexual harassment in the workplace, and other areas in education and training can be covered and be dealt with. She also explained the Safe Spaces Act or commonly known as the Bawal ang Bastos Law or the Republic Act 11313. She also discussed about VAWC or Violence Against Women and Children act or the RA 9262.

With the growing rate of gender-related crimes, it is therefore fitting to empower ATI women about their rights. The Center must keep the workplace a safe space for gender of all sorts.

Later that day, a dance contest was held among the staff to showcase not only the staff’s dancing prowess but also to highlight women empowerment in a creative and fun way.
Three groups of ATI 8 staff put the dancefloor on fire: Team Juander Woman, Team Rainbow Connection, and Team Ninja Purple.

In the end, Team Ninja Purple was hailed the 1st Champion of the dance competition followed by Rainbow Connection as 2nd Champion, and Juander Woman as 3rd Champion. Either way, everyone was hailed champions as spirits were lifted and cooperation was magnified.
