Mentally Geared for the 35th Year

BAYBAY CITY, Leyte - One of the many definitions of mental health would be a state of well-being in which every individual realizes his or her own potential and can cope with the normal stresses of life. Being two (2) years into the pandemic, mental health issues may have affected people, ATI-RTC 8 staff included.

As the ATI Network celebrates 35 years of excellent extension services, it is innate for ATI-RTC 8 to laud the many sacrifices and hard work of its staff. Coupled with the pandemic and the many responsibilities of the staff in and outside work, stress is a huge factor that affects the mental health. Thus, the Center conducted a Seminar-Workshop titled Resiliency and Mental Health in the Pandemic.

It was quite an emotional activity for some of the staff as they were able to share their experiences and how they felt about the pandemic. Resource persons, Dr. Priscilla Gonzalez Fernando, Dr. Nonie Fernando, and Dr. Aaron Lumbao guided the participants into a life-changing mental health awareness journey. The RPs shared strategies on how to cope with the stress.

The activity also enabled participants to learn some mindfulness exercises. These exercises allowed them to relax their muscles and calm their minds all at the comforts of their own seats.

Twenty-seven (27) regular staff of ATI-RTC 8 attended the said activity on January 26, 2022. The center hopes that each participant now have a renewed mindset as they face the challenges of this new year, 2022.
