4H Eastern Visayas crafts 3-year plan
4H officers and coordinators discuss during the workshop

The 4-H Club is a community-based youth organization which aims to help children and young people acquire knowledge, develop life skills, and form attitudes through learning by doing in agriculture and fisheries that will enable them to become self-directing productive members of society.

Over the years, the 4-H club has transformed lives of the Filipino youth across the country producing competent prime movers and champions of Philippine agriculture. As the 4-H club reach this milestone, the organization pledges to continuously improve and sustain its programs for the betterment of the club, the community, and the country as a whole.

Through a strategic planning workshop, regional officers and coordinators aim to formulate evidence-based interventions with a definite timeline and metrics crafting a three-year plan that indicates its programs, projects, and activities for the 4-H clubs in Eastern Visayas.

The 4-H Regional Officers agreed to compile the profiles from the provincial/municipal/city clubs and facilitate the SEC registration by October 2022. The crafted strategic plan will be reviewed for further improvement and fine-tuning. Center Director Taganas re-affirms her support to this initiative and on the follow-up workshop in July 2022 to finalize the 4-H strategic plan.

Noel L. Adel, Jr., 4H President in Allen, Northern Samar shares on his insight with the activity: “With this strategic planning workshop, I learned that the 4-H club’s vision can greatly affect the region’s economic and youth development. This activity is really important to maintain and improve the organization. Also, this boosts the morale of the 4-Hers by providing them a platform to voice out their issues and concerns and be able to participate in the making of solutions to address those. I am thankful to ATI-RTC 8 for this opportunity, may the 4-H club continue to rise and become agriculture's productive human resource”.

Further, crafting the plan encourages more officers to bring back 4H activities among their localities and members knowing that there is already a clear path. “As the President of 4-H Club in Tacloban City, this 4-H strategic planning workshop provided a clear vision from the consolidated ideas of the officers and coordinators crafting a three-year plan entailing as to where 4-H Clubs in Eastern Visayas will be doing in the next years. Apart from it, this activity gave me additional inputs in the formulation of activities in our community and I will re-echo the plan we had drafted to my co-officers once I get back. To add, I will be expecting another meeting for us to furtherly discuss the preparations and updates of the projects and activities we initially identified”, says Jestony C. Lowar.

A total of 11 4H regional officers and coordinators participated in the 4H Strategic Planning Workshop on May 25-26, 2022 at ATI-RTC 8, VSU Campus, Baybay City, Leyte. (With reports from CKLaurente)
