BAYBAY City, Leyte – Proclamation No. 227 s. 1988, “Providing for the observance of the Month of March as Women’s Role in History Month” marks the month of March as National Women’s Month wherein every 8th is also marked as International Women’s Day.

Since 2023 until 2028, the recurring theme is:  "WE for gender equality and inclusive society." According to the Philippine Commission on Women, “WE represents Women and Everyone, highlighting the collective responsibility for gender equality, not solely resting on women but involving everyone.”

ATI RTC 8 staff joined the opening of this celebration with the #PurpleFridays campaign where staff are encouraged to wear purple every Friday this month – a symbolic color for women and gender equality. The GAD committee also launched the “GADllery of Thoughts” where everyone can share their answer to the question: What is an empowered woman?” and is posted at the Wall of Innovations for everyone to read and share.

Ms. Mary Jane P. Pepe, ATI RTC 8 GAD focal, shares that there is a lot of activities at the Center in the coming days for the staff and stakeholders, such as the Symposium for Women.

The month-long celebration formally opened on March 1, 2024  during the flag retreat ceremony with most of the ATI RTC 8 staff in attendance.
