Ormoc City, Leyte – Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) play important roles in agricultural development. Agri-based information reaches most farmers through the work of the AEW. As such, AEWs must be equipped with presentation and facilitation skills to do their jobs well.
ATI RTC 8 sees the need to capacitate new AEWs, including those who seldom attend training due to other responsibilities in the office. This is taking note of the fact that, presentation skills aren’t only used when one is a resource person but also in office when sharing new information. Communication skills are a must for every AEW.
The Center conducted the Training in Presentation and Facilitation Skills on April 4-5, 2022 in Pongos Hotel, Ormoc City. Participants from different municipalities learned about importance of communication skills in extension work, managing anxiety during a presentation, tools and strategies in presenting, and handling difficult participants.
Roan Merelos of Capoocan, Leyte was thankful for the training. “ The contents of the training are very relevant, especially for me, who is new to the scope of work in the LGU”, he shared.
Aljen Toledo of Alang-alang, Leyte described facilitation as a “lubricant” that ensures the smooth flow of a training. He said, “The training is very relevant to us newbies and could be a “game changer” in our field of work”.
Nineteen (19) AEWs joined the CPD-accredited training.
