CFIDP component presentation

Catarman, N. Samar – PCA N. Samar PCDM Mr. Reynato P. Dubongco answered “Dayon kita” when asked if the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP) information caravan will be postponed.  As fate would have it, the activity was set on the day Typhoon Paeng was supposed to landfall in N. Samar. His answer gave weight to two meanings to a region with Waray-waray and Cebuano speaking people: the show will go on (for the Waray) and  an invitation come in “dayon ta”  (Cebuano). This is an apt invite for coconut farmers to avail of the program.

With the weather just cloudy but with no wind and just a scatter of rain, ATI RTC 8 and representatives of implementing agencies for the CFIDP presented the components of the program to attending coconut farmer association representatives and AEWs from different LGUs in Northern Samar.

The activity was conducted with the assistance of the PCA N. Samar PCDM Mr. Reynato P. Dubongco and the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist led by Dr. Jose Luis Acompañado (DVM). Participants were able to ask questions about the credit component of the program, pest and disease management, and the plans and projects for the industry in Northern Samar.

Ms. Emelga Fulgar, a participant, quipped, “These joint efforts of different government agencies will help the coconut farmers to increase their production as well as their economic condition. I wish that the farmer’s organizations will be able to access the various programs and also avail of other assistance to support our individual farmers. Thank you ATI-RTC 8 and also PCA, DTI, Landbank of the Philippines who spare their time despite the typhoon Paeng to disseminate this information to the coconut farmers here in Northern Samar.”

The info caravan was attended by 49 farmers and AEWs at the Provincial Capitol, Catarman, Northern Samar on October 28, 2022.
