BAYBAY CITY, Leyte - ATI RTC8 conducted the training on the Recognition of the Priority and Emerging Animal Diseases on March 1-3, 2023, at Hall C ATI RTC8 VSU Baybay City Leyte. Twenty-five participants from different LGU’s in Region 8 attended the training.
Participants were expected to gain additional knowledge on animal disease. As they performed the practicum on the Necropsy Procedure, the participants conducted the collection of blood, serum, swabs, organs/tissues, and fecal material.
Dr. Harvie Portugaliza, an associate professor at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Visayas State University, discussed the Basic Clinical and Pathological conditions, and Clinical Signs and symptoms, Dr. Zaldy Villanobos presented Regional Livestock Diseases Updates, Dr. Kyle Tubigan also discussed the Priority of Animal Diseases such as Avian Influenza, New Castle’s Disease, Hemorrhagic Septicemia, and Foot and Mouth Diseases. on the other hand, Nikki James Dumdum conducted the Disease Surveillance Workshop Monitoring, Reporting and Evaluation.
Mr. Manuel Salvador J. Aras, Jr, one of the participants, said that, he now had ideas about animal diseases “Throughout the training, I have now ideas about priority and emerging animal diseases which, I hope to master sooner” he also added.
Participants look forward to sharing their learnings with farmers.
