Jaro, Leyte – Rural-based coordinator and volunteer leaders trooped to Villaconzoilo Farm to retool themselves with necessary knowledge and skills in organizing and sustaining RBO programs. Retooling is important so one can meet challenges pertaining to the job at hand.
ATI RTC 8 conducted the Retooling Course for Rural-Based Coordinators and Volunteer Leaders on April 19-21, 2022. With the training, participants were able to reacquaint themselves with the operational background and significance of the rural-based organizations (RBOs); leadership types, functions, skills and tasks of the coordinator and volunteer leaders; organizing procedures for RBOs; organization communication; and reorientation towards positive values.
Resource persons included former ATI RTC 8 Center Director Dr. Vilma M. Patindol and Rev. Fr. Dennis M. Cagantas. Dr. Patindol discussed about Community Organizing, Roles of RBO Coordinators, and Organizational Communication. On the other hand, Rev. Fr. Cagantas shared about Values Formation & Transformational Leadership.
Mr. Andro C Bael of Leyte, Leyte was grateful for the training. He said, “The three-day training program helped me to improve my understanding especially as RBO coordinators. This taught me the importance of including the community level on community partnership and development as part of the government’s efforts in addressing issues and concerns pertaining to social and economic stabilization. One best way to improve the community is to create shared goals and responsibilities within and across various sectors such as agriculture, labor, social works and all possible sectors. RBO’s, for me, is the best venue for this because working in a rural communities makes it all happen.”
As a new RBO coordinator in their municipality, Ms. Jenica Emutan was thankful because she was able to think of possible activities for her community. She looks forward to more training on community organizing with ATI RTC 8.
The 3-day training was attended by 20 RBO coordinators and volunteer leaders.
