The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) launched the Learning Sites for Agriculture (LSA) Program in 2011 to enhance agricultural extension through experience-based learning. These LSAs serve as accredited private extension service providers, demonstrating practical farming concepts and promoting agriculture as a viable enterprise.

LSAs are primarily farmer/family-owned (75%), followed by private organizations (20%) and public institutions (5%). The operators are generally well-educated, with 83% having a college degree, mostly in agriculture-related fields. These sites function as hands-on training centers where agricultural knowledge is shared through practical demonstrations.

The LSA program serves as a knowledge hub, demonstration farm, and training center, promoting collaboration and community development. Through regular training, technology demonstrations, and community engagement, the program has successfully achieved its key objectives of increasing farm income and enhancing agricultural knowledge through environmentally friendly methods.

The government's investment of Php 93.7 million in LSAs from 2018 to 2022 has led to increased farm incomes. The program has demonstrated significant multi-faceted benefits through its focus on sustainable practices, community engagement, and capacity building. It promotes GAP, GAHP, and organic farming while equipping farmers with adaptive skills.

The LSA program complements DA commodity programs by enhancing productivity, sustainability, and farmer livelihoods through hands-on training and technology demonstrations. It plays a crucial role in transforming the agriculture sector, uplifting farmers, and strengthening rural economies through local agricultural production and community collaboration.
